I finally saw a female bus driver! Woman power!
I never knew it to happen but I saw some violence on the streets (one guy was angry with the other and was almost punching him while being held back). At least people are still human (just relating the concept to the movie, Equilibrium). I wonder why we associate peace with no violence, when people get angry they want to punch people. Any other manifestation of that anger would lead to false accusations (and going to jail) and robbery (to get vengeance!) among many other things. I guess that I'm trying to say that if one punch can solve an issue, it should be allowed (not that I've ever felt this way actually). There seems to be some truth to this though; after speaking with some Italian classmates, they seem to feel the same way.
On another note, I have found many Italians here who frequently ask me why I came to Trento. I suppose that to them, as compared to where they are from in Italy, Trento is not that great. I keep telling them that I decided to come here and I will slowly but surely come to fall in love with Trento. There are so many places within Trento that I have not explored yet and to simply ignore that fact and complain about a town is not fair I think.
I have had a tough week trying to pay my fees. The system here is not international card friendly. I had to find an 'international' bank like Deutsche Bank to quell my anger and helplessness (obviously after bursting into tears in front of many ATMs first). To pay my rent as well as fees I had to give the banks hard cash! Can you imagine carrying that much cash? Wasn't the point of having visa cards to stop us from carrying around so much valuable paper?
Nonetheless, after a long day, I could finally withdraw enough money and pay the bank (all payments here are done through the bank in relation to the university).
The main problem I faced was that I could not have a bank account until I had my appointment with the Immigration Office. So many factors to account for my circumstances.
There are a lot of people who bike down the hills at very high speeds that can be termed as 'dangerous' for sure. I am not sure that I can get used to the fact that the cycles move as fast as cars drive.
It is funny how a lot of people don't follow the traffic rules (it's more like the rules are just guidelines to them, especially if they are in a rush).
One piece of information that I am desperately seeking is how to stand in line when there is more than one counter. Sometimes people make two lines but it doesn't make any sense to me. Why not have one line that splits into two when a counter becomes available? This particular concept is baffling to me and I never know what to do. I just let the people in front of me proceed and when it is my turn, I make sure no one else thinks that it is their turn. I just assure myself that I'm doing the right thing I suppose?
It is 14 degrees Celsius outside! I never knew when it got so cold. It doesn't really feel cold. Or maybe I just got used to cold mornings.
I saw a trailer taking cut wood and thought to myself "He's a wood chucker!".
I said "GRAZIE" (thank you) to the bus driver when I was getting off; he replied with "PREGO, ARRIVEDERCI" (You're welcome, Goodbye). I was very pleased.
After pushing and pulling so many doors I have learned "TIRARE" (pull) and "SPINGERE" (push).
It is funny how you can get the pronunciation wrong even when you read the Italian word aloud. It is simply because we are used to a certain pronunciation in English and we automatically project it into similar words (mostly when the words are so similar like 'science' and 'SCIENZE')
(^__^)
I made my favorite pancake after coming here and found that it just tasted wrong. Maybe it is the butter? the egg? the salt? I miss my pancakes....
I saw many Italians walk past the "writing on the wall" below and burst into laughter. These sort of jokes should not be explained to outsiders; considering that it could be politically incorrect (that's a problem in any country I feel).
"I cannot believe that I did that! I could have gotten arrested I think!"
Can you guess what I could have done to warrant that response? (to be fair, far too many things)
I don't do it at home and I have never done it before, I am not like "Nurarihyon" (from the anime, Nurarihyon no Mago). But, sometimes, we get distracted in life and we forget to pay. Yes, you read that right, I ate at a diner and I forgot to pay. I walked right out of the diner and kept walking for about half an hour before I realised. The funny thing is that I was going to buy a gelato and when I opened my purse and found more money than expected I realised (finally!) that I hadn't paid the diner for the pizza I had eaten.
I rushed to the scene of the crime with my thoughts in disarray and my eyes scouring the path before me to find any trace of people chasing me. This lasted for about fifteen minutes (I was fast walking since running would give my position away). I honestly felt like a criminal, those were a very long fifteen minutes. I guess that real criminals cannot feel the guilt weighing on them, they laugh through it like all the famous villains we know (the Joker for sure).
I reached the diner and said "MI DISPIACE" (I'm sorry) and handed her the money. She looked a bit surprised but thankful. She even said "Thank you" (English), which was quite a nice surprise. So, when people want to be nice, they can be; interesting to note, Italy.

[Thank you all for reading! I hope that you have learned some Italian just by reading this blog (too much to ask?) Nonetheless, I'm working my way around my internet issues and will not have any major lapses soon I hope! Take care and see you soon (A DOPO)]

Beautiful landscapes surround me after drifting through foggy days and nights. To be surrounded by this beauty, for me, is like a dream. Humans are like children all the time, we get bored very easily. One day you are awed by wonderful sight, but if you see that same sight time and again, there comes a point where you pay it no mind. I wonder if it is because we get bored and seek change? (unintentionally, of course)
